Stolen People on Stolen Land.

What draws so many of us to the beautiful borough of Brooklyn is its essence. That Brotherly Love, that Spread Love Brooklyn Boy energy that flows though the land is undeniably. It’s been packaged. Printed on T-Shirts and written into television scripts and broadcasted across the world. Our reputation precedes us.
That’s so Brooklyn.
And yet the tension that simmers underneath our beloved melting pot has come to a massive boil many times.
First in 1873 at the height of the American Revolution in which Flatbush was the sight of Governor So and So’s rebellion and battle.
Once again in 1973 at the height of the crack epidemic which swept across New York City. Ravaging stoops, mothers and cousins, mom and pop shops and public schools.

Flatbush, Brooklyn is positioned at the the epicenter of what is known as the “Borough of Churches”, Flatbush Mixtape is a platform for community, learning, solidarity & unapologetic cultural appreciation. We honor and uplift neighbors of all walks on the basis that before we arrived the land we are currently on was called Lenapehoking and is the ancestral land of the Lenape and the Canarsee people. We acknowledge that the land we live in is the ancestral lands of the Lenape Nation and the Canarsee people who have been and continue to be forcefully and systemically dispossessed of their land, and as a result, their culture. As we conduct healing, we are aware of the deep impact of this history both within individuals and society. We work to learn and unlearn our colonial conditioning to fully embrace our authentic power as Ourselves. We begin by acknowledging our individual privilege, and collectively use it to change the way society functions through healing practices and education.

Make it stand out.

Dream it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
