QGardens opened in early 2015 after 2.5 years of organizing efforts by the local community. Located on an MTA lot at 58 East 18th street between Church and Caton Avenues, Q Gardens is public green space dedicated to active learning about nature, building community, and hosting arts and cultural events. We run on cooperative principles and an open membership, sustaining in this way thriving projects in communal growing, medicinal herbs, community composting, beekeeping, environmental stewardship, and reuse/repair/recycle.
